Paper Room -2009

This installation was constructed of roughly 12,000 rolls of standard computer paper. The project was an effort to reclaim a tiny, fractional amount of paper and alter it back into something more organic.  An effect the room produces is to muffle all sound dramatically, It feels as if one is buried beneath a snow drift.

Made of Recycled Materials this installation, sans the A-bomb, was built out of my collaborative installation “Always Welcome”. The bomb is constructed from rigid foam.

This was a collaborative piece between Nate Steingenga, Trevor Olson, Lonnie Ruffcorn and myself. The abandoned home was erected in the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery during the annual Central Washington University student juried Competition. There are several hundred blue mice throughout the interior of the shack, I have a great appreciation for Sandy Skoglund’s work and some of that is reflected here in part.
